Yanni Konstantinos Sotirios Koutsogiannapolous
1945 - 2012
Born in the small village of Molais, Greece, Kostadinos was a vivacious adventurous soul that lit up every room he entered. At age 14 his family left their Greek village of donkeys and moved to Canada where he thrived discovering an exciting new world. After graduating from dental school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kostadinos moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Soon his soaring reputation in 'whole health dentistry' grew into an 18 month waiting list with patients arriving from 17 countries around the world seeking his help.
Sharing his depth of expertise regarding the 'dental components contribution to chronic illness and pain', Dr. Paulos became a sought after speaker for International Medical Conferences where he often received rare standing ovations from world renowned brain surgeons, medical practitioners and scientists. International Medical Conferences and Naturopathic Colleges continue to share his knowledgeable techniques and teaching videos.
Kostadinos thrived in all his endeavours including his love for the oceans and driftwood beach-combing. Driftwood seemed to be calling him like Sirens on the beach and Kostadinos enthusiastically answered their calls.
Each piece of driftwood was gathered by the artist from the beautiful shores of British Columbia, Canada, stored, dried and honed while the artist 'listened' to and discovered the wood guiding him.
Kostadinos' workshop exuded with prolific imagination while often working on several sculptures at the same time. Influenced by his Greek Mythological heritage, his playful nature and healing soul, Kostadinos felt a treasured role of caring for the fallen wood that drifted upon the seas arriving on our shores. He could often be found singing aloud to his beloved Greek music playing in the background while creating captivating sculptures that seemed to come alive in his hands.
Sculptures by Kostadinos are stunning and imagination-provoking. There is nothing like them in the world. Rare combinations of driftwood, bronze, gems and ocean washed stones reflect the rich and complex nature of the artists' soul. Each powerful sculpture evokes a unique one-of-a-kind brilliance reflecting natures' messages echoed by the artist...."a life within in a life, waiting to be heard, one need only to listen"
